Step 1 is Water

The body simply cannot sustain wellness without an adequate amount of clean water... every day. How much you need and when you should drink it is more complicated to talk about than it is to do if you simply develop good water habits.

Note: Carbonated beverages do contain water... but they are not water!

Most people drink cold, unfiltered water and then only when thirsty.  Wrong on all counts.

How Much Water Should You Drink and When?

  1. Divide your body's weight in pounds by 4 and drink that number of ounces before noon every day;
  2. Then, drink at least that much throughout the rest of the day; but
  3. Don't drink more than a 2 or 3 ounces beginning 30 minutes before, during and 30 minutes after meals.

What Kind of Water Should You Drink?

Well first of course, it's got to be clean and free of any disease-causing pollutants.  Most developed countries add chlorine to kill bacteria and it's very effective.  But...

chlorine is not good for you!

There are differing opinions about what kind of water is best but there is no disagreement whatsoever about chlorine.  Don't drink it and don't bathe in it.

Activated charcoal filters can be purchased at almost any hardware or home improvement store and they are very easy to install.  So, quit subjecting your body to this toxic chemical.

Now, you can further refine the kind of water you drink by choosing either RO (reverse osmosis) or distilled.  This is where the debate can get heated but bottom line: which type you choose is more a matter of taste and budget.  RO proponents claim that distilled water doesn't have any minerals in it and the distillers claim that RO simply isn't "pure water".

Both positions are technically correct but use the one that you like that is within your budget and don't get caught up in the debate.  Just pick one and develop a consistent, daily habit of drinking it.

The next step is to build a foundation for wellness.
